We went camping this weekend at Hanging Rock State Park (just north of Winston-Salem, NC). We've been camping here for almost 15 years and still love it...

Erin was cooking a gourmet meal of peanut butter crackers....

Erin was trying to "hide"....

Erin finagled a lift part way up the mountain

In the Tulleries at the Louvre - it's wonderful here. People sit all in the grass amongst the beautiful sculptures and enjoy picnics and each other.

In front of the Arc de Triumphe

A view from the top of the Eiffel Tower

Check out the base of one of the legs of the Eiffel Tower.

Walking to the Eiffel Tower one evening

At 9 and 10pm every night, the Eiffel Tower sparkles with blinking lights for a few minutes.

Sunset at the Louvre

This is the best waiter in Paris. We had so much fun with him - he would sing to us, tease us, speake to us in 5 languages and completely entertain us during our dinners here.

This the Sacre-Coeur of Monmarte in Paris. It's set higher than then rest of the city so you can see the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Arch de Triumphe from up here.
You can't take photos inside the cathedral, but is was breathtaking. I can't imagine the years and artistry it took to create so many beautiful works of architecture without all the technology we have today.

We were in Mont Marte near Moulin Rouge and I loved this windmill.

A typical street in Paris

Inside St. Chappelle - this was a cathedral built to house Christ's crown of thorns and several other of His passions. These were all moved to safer places during times of war. This cathedral was the smallest but completely lined with stained glass windows and one of the most magnificent.

The Louvre at night while a woman sang the most angelic song throughout the courtyard.

The Louvre at night

From the Louvre - you look down through the Tullieries and see this enormous ferris wheel - I think it's called "Le Carousel"???

I fell in love with this painting. It's called "The Young Martyr" by Paul Delaroche - he was a romantic painter who painted this Christian girl who was thrown into the Tiber River with her hands tied.
The colors and quality of light were exquisite - you really felt like she was floating in water....beautiful.

View of the Louvre from inside the museum.

THE Mona Lisa - we were surprised how small she is and how protected she is, but she was beautiful.

Venus di Milo at the Louvre - it was amazing to think that we were looking at a sculpture from 2 B.C.

Inside the pyramid at the Louvre

One of the many beautiful cafes that we ate at

I couldn't resist getting this flower at a cafe that we had breakfast at...

Me in front of a closed cathedral in Paris

Just a very typical view of the architecture all over Paris

Inside one of the couryards in the Louvre

Along the river in Paris where you can buy artwork, books and all kinds of souveniers.

The view from the top of the Dom out of Koln, Germany.

Looking out one of the rosettes at the top...

Jeff and I at the top of the Dom in the bell tower. We didn't realize what we were doing when we started climbing the 505 feet to the top - it was a narrow spiral staircase and we were laughing the whole way up - it felt like it was never going to end....

The prayer candles lined the corridors of the Dom.

Jeffrey and I at Frue for dinner. All the restaurants had outdoor cafe seating and didn't eat inside once during the whole trip. The beer and bratwurst were fantastic.
